Description

This is my collage of the people who made America possible.

George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin, the 'Founding Fathers of America' who fought for Independence from Britain and Freedom. They also support of Civil Rights for Blacks and to free them all over the nation as they also fought against Britain. Northern states such as Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, New York and New Jersey became Anti-Slavery in the late 1700's as well as states of Minnesota, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin followed suit as well as banning the importation of slaves into America in the early 1800's. Thomas Jefferson signed Article I, Section 9 of the Constitution in 1807, believing that within twenty years the south would eventually give up slavery and enter as Anti-Slavery. But in the 1820's, Democrats seized power and reversed everything, allowing slavery to exist in America.

African Americans helped shaped in the American Revolution, former slaves such as Salem Poor and Peter Salem, who fought in the militia in 1775 at the beginning of the Revolution. They were known for his actions during the Battle of Bunker Hill on June 17, 1775, where he is credited with mortally wounding British Lieutenant Colonel James Abercrombie and was cited as a hero. Crispus Attucks is one of the people who was shot dead by British Redcoats in the Boston Massacre and became one of the first martyr of the American Revolution as well as becoming an icon of the anti-slavery movement during the late 1700's.

During a time where slavery continued to thrive in the south, people like Frederick Douglass fled from slavery and became leader of the Abolitionist movement during the mid-1800's and Abraham Lincoln who opposed slavery greatly, sought to end slavery when he becomes president. This angered the southern states who still depend on slavery and seceded from the Union, forming the Confederate States and sparked off the American Civil War which ended in Union victory and ended slavery completely. Booker T. Washington is one of the first Black Conservatives in America and from the last generation of black American leaders born into slavery and became the leading voice of the former slaves and their descendants. They were newly oppressed in the South by disenfranchisement and the Jim Crow discriminatory laws enacted in the post-Reconstruction Southern states in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Theodore Roosevelt was one of the greatest presidents who showed courage in Cuba during the War against Spain and the first president to speak out on conservation, and he greatly expanded the system of national parks and national forests, have the Panama Canal constructed, expanded the US Navy and negotiated an end to the Russo-Japanese war and won a noble peace prize. Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR) lead America during the Great Depression with the 'New Deal Coalition', and helped America to supply the Allies with munitions and soldiers until the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and declared war on the Axis. FDR's persistent optimism and activism contributed to a renewal of the national spirit. General George S. Patton played an very important role during WWII in Europe. His speeches, courage and decisive actions helped turned the tide of the War. Audie Murphy one of the most decorated American veterans of World War II. Specifically his post war battle with; and victory over PTSD. He received every military combat award for valor available from the U.S. Army, as well as French and Belgian awards for heroism. Murphy received the Medal of Honor for valor demonstrated at the age of 19 for single-handedly holding off an entire company of German soldiers for an hour at the Colmar Pocket in France in January 1945, then leading a successful counterattack while wounded and out of ammunition.

During the 1960's , John F. Kennedy was one of the most inspirational presidents in the History of America. He asked the nations of the world to join together to fight what he called the "common enemies of man: tyranny, poverty, disease, and war itself", He also predicted that the US will launch to the moon by the end of the decade as well as sought for Civil Rights to end Segregation in America. His speeches provided hope for America and Humanity around the world until his death shocked everyone. Martin Luther King Jr. is one of the most inspiring African Americans in history. Like Kennedy, he sought for Civil Rights for African Americans in the late 1960's and won out in the end.

Ronald Reagan, implemented sweeping new political and economic initiatives. His supply-sided economic policies advocated reducing tax rates to spur economic growth, controlling the money supply to reduce inflation, deregulation of the economy, and reducing government spending. In his first term he also survived an assassination attempt took a hard line against labor unions, escalated the War on Drugs and ordered an invasion of Grenada to reverse a Communist coup. He was re-elected by a landslide in 1984 and his second term was primarily marked by foreign matters, such as the ending of the Cold War, the 1986 bombing of Libya and and the revelation of the Iran-Contra affair. He also label the Soviet Union as an 'Evil Empire' as he supported anti-communist movements worldwide and spent his first term forgoing the strategy of detente in favor of rollback by escalating the arms race with the USSR. His negotiations with Soviet General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev culminating the INF Treaty and the decrease of both countries' nuclear arsenals as well as the tearing down the 'Berlin Wall' which became reality and the dissolution of the USSR happened afterward. He was one of the last real president that cared for America. Nancy Reagan, first lady of the United States with her husband Ronald Reagan. She championed recreational drug prevention causes by founding the "Just Say No" drug awareness campaign, which was considered her major initiative as First Lady. More discussion of her role ensued when it was revealed in 1988 that she had consulted an astrologer to assist in planning the president's schedule after the attempted assassination of her husband in 1981. She had a strong influence on her husband, and played a role in a few of his personnel and diplomatic decisions.

Christopher Kyle was one of the soldiers in the United States Armed Forces, he joined the Navy Seals and was deployed during the ‘War on Terror’ as a sniper. His skills not only killed many Al-Qaeda terrorist/insurgents but saved many of his fellow US troops. His bravery and love for his Country is a perfect example of why we should be thankful to our troops.
